Terms of use

These terms are a contract between you and Daniel Sellings, trading as Ripple of History. Using rippleofhistory.com means you agree to them. If you do not, please leave the page.

1. The operator

The site is operated by Daniel Sellings, a sole trader in Eastbourne, East Sussex, United Kingdom, trading as Ripple of History. Contact: rippleofhistory@gmail.com. There is no limited company behind this domain.

2. The service

The site publishes history films, On This Day calendar pages, a shop catalogue, a games page, and related pages (About, Support, these legal pages). Daily shorts and long-form films are hosted on YouTube and shown here under YouTube’s terms. I may change, pause or take down any part of the site without notice.

3. Licence to view

You may view the pages for your personal, non-commercial use. You may share a link. You may not copy the wordmark, scrape the calendar for a competing product, republish the essays, or frame the site as if it were yours. Search engines may index the public pages in the usual way.

4. Intellectual property

The Ripple of History name, gold wordmark, site design, original photographs, stills generated for the site, and original scripts are © Daniel Sellings unless a credit says otherwise. YouTube videos remain on YouTube; their player, thumbnails and metadata are used under YouTube’s developer and embed rules. Historical speeches, published books and archive footage remain with their owners. Fair dealing for criticism, review and quotation is relied on where UK law allows it. If you believe your rights are infringed, email the address above with the URL and your claim. I will look at it promptly.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • attack, overload or probe the site
  • use it to send spam or malware
  • misrepresent yourself as Ripple of History
  • harvest emails or scrape at a volume that harms the host

There is no public comments board on this domain. Comments on YouTube, X or Substack are those platforms’ problem and theirs to moderate.

6. Donations and Support

Support via Buy Me a Coffee is voluntary. It is a gift toward travel, kit and time — not a purchase of goods, not a ticket, and not a charitable subscription with Gift Aid unless a separate scheme says so. Amounts shown on the Support page are suggestions. Buy Me a Coffee processes the payment under its own terms and privacy policy. I do not take card numbers on this website. Refunds, if any, are handled through that provider.

Substack paid writing, if you take it, is a contract with Substack and with me under Substack’s terms.

6a. Merchandise

The Shop page lists Ripple of History and WW2Hub merchandise from the Shopify store. The contract of sale is with me, trading as Ripple of History, and payment is processed by Shopify under Shopify’s terms. Prices are in pounds sterling unless a listing says otherwise. Consumer rights under UK law apply to paid orders. I do not take card numbers on this website.

7. No warranty

The site is provided “as is”. I do not promise it is complete, current, or fit for a particular purpose. Calendar days may lack a short. Feeds may lag YouTube. Hosting may go down.

8. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by the law of England and Wales, I am not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or loss of data arising from the site. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot be limited by law. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.

9. Privacy

How data is handled is set out in the Privacy policy. History content itself is covered by the Disclaimer.

10. Changes

I may update these terms. The date at the top is the version that applies. If a change is material, I will keep the new text on this URL. Continued use after that date is acceptance.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer in another UK nation or in the EU you may also use the courts of your home place of residence where the law gives you that right.
